Description

The Vogue Theatre is a landmark Art Deco building located on Vancouver's Theatre Row. Designed by the architectural firm Kaplan & Sprachman and built in 1941, it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1993. Originally a cinema, the building now serves as a performing arts venue.

Operated by Gibbons Hospitality Group since 2010, the Vogue Theatre is home to significant cultural events such as ComedyFest, the Vancouver International Film Festival, and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. During the 1998 restoration, the theatre was restored to its original appearance and equipped with modern lighting and sound systems.

The architecture of the Vogue Theatre emphasizes smooth lines and symmetrical facades made of textured concrete and terrazzo panels with wrought iron screens. One of the key features of the building is a large neon sign topped with a silhouette of the Roman goddess Diana. The interior of the theatre includes 1,161 seats: 614 on the orchestra level, 211 on the dress circle and 336 on the upper tier. Curved balconies and Art Deco ceilings, as well as a complex modulated lighting system, create a unique atmosphere.
