Description
Located in downtown San Diego, California, the Balboa Theatre is a historic building built in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Originally a vaudeville house and movie theater, it was restored and reopened in 2008 as a modern performing arts venue. Combining Moorish and Spanish Revival styles, the Balboa Theatre seats 1,513 and is renowned for its unique interior and acoustics.
The theater plays an important role in the city's cultural life, hosting the Mostly Mozart Festival, special events, and touring Broadway companies. The City of San Diego also hosts its annual State of the City address here. The schedule and poster can be found on our website.
