Knight Theater

Description

Located at the corner of Levine Avenue of the Arts and South Tryon Street, the Knight Theater has been a landmark cultural venue in Charlotte since it opened in 2009. The theater is part of the South Tryon Campus, which includes the Bechtler Museum of Contemporary Art, the Mint Museum, and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture. These institutions, along with the Duke Energy Tower, form a unique cultural complex in Uptown.

The Knight Theater’s sinuous stainless steel structure contrasts harmoniously with the striped terracotta façade of the Mario Botta-designed Bechtler Museum. Together, they share a common lobby, creating a unique atmosphere for visitors.

The Knight Theater is home to a variety of cultural events, including the Charlotte Jazz Festival and Breakin’ Convention, which also takes place at Levine Plaza and Romare Bearden Park.
