SAP Center in San Jose, also known as the Sharks Tank, is a modern indoor sports arena located in the heart of California. The arena's main tenant is the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks. The history of SAP Center begins with the initiative of local residents who united in the organization Fund Arena Now (FAN) in the mid-1980s with the goal of building an arena. The project received support from city authorities, and construction began in 1991, completed in 1993. The arena is known not only for sporting events, but also for concerts by world stars such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones and many others. Every year, SAP Center hosts about 190 events, including concerts, shows and sporting competitions. In 2013, the arena was renamed in honor of SAP, which acquired the naming rights.
